Bathroom Renovation: Days 15-17

My poor husband is going to be crippled when this job is completed.  The fun factor is definitely starting to wane....but progress is still being made!

When last I blogged about this subject, Mike had put up the concrete backer board and made some cute little niche boxes in the shower.  Well all of that had to be sealed with silicone and then let dry for 24 hours.

Then he mixed up some of the mortar to go over the silicone just to make sure that the joints were good and sealed.  We don't want any water to be able to get behind the wall.  This also had to dry overnight.

Finally, today he got started on the tile. It is slow work....mix the mortar, let it sit, mix some more, make your tile cuts, come upstairs, butter the tile, place it in the right place, rinse, repeat.   He has the back wall up and the back of the niches.

Mike says there are flaws in it, but I don't see them...and I looked hard!  Tomorrow we will have to go back to Lowes to get some more bull nosed tiles.  We over bought on some tiles, and under bought on others.   Fancy that!  I didn't see that coming :).   This is one of the reasons I don't want to live out in the country....We have to be close to Walmart and Lowes because we go there all the time.

Meanwhile, I have been to the Dollar Tree AGAIN looking for craft supplies.  Stay Tuned! :).
