1st Day Trip of 2014: Hohenwald, Tennessee and Fall Hollow (Natchez Trace)

Mike and I decided to get out and enjoy the pretty Spring weather by taking a day trip.   We looked for another city to explore in Tennessee and found the little town of Hohenwald, Tennessee in Lewis County.   It is nearby the place where Meriwether Lewis of Lewis and Clarke fame sustained gunshot wounds in a mysterious death.  Some people are convinced it was suicide, some murder.   It is also the place where the Elephant Sanctuary is located.

The pictures of the town looked gorgeous, and so off we went.   When we got there the town was nothing much to speak of.   We looked around an old "Antique" store called "Junque" which is a fancy way of saying Junk.  Mike and I looked around the store which was a big hoarder's jumble.   We did see an Apple Computer in there that looked like one of the originals....and also ran up on some old 45 records.   I looked through them for fun and they had some Hall and Oates, Chicago, and Pointer Sisters.   That was a blast from the past!   We also saw a school that looked like Rydell High School from the movie  Grease. :).   Small town America!

We did see some gorgeous signs of Spring which made the trip worth it.   Here are a few of the pics I took in Hohenwald.

From Hohenwald we drove to the Natchez Trace.   We pulled off at Fall Hollow and decided to walk down to see the waterfall.  The first part of the trail was developed, but the part down to the falls got a little steep and wasn't developed, but we had to get our pictures!

We finished the day by eating at Cracker Barrel in Dickson, TN. We even splurged and got some Coca Cola Cake.  Yummy!   It was a great day with my Honey.
