When we woke up this morning and looked at the countertop, we found that there were a few flaws. Mike thinks that it will be okay, but I am a little worried that it won't last if it isn't a really good coat, so we are going to put another coat of epoxy resin on the countertop. That means that my countertop cost is going to go up to $66.68. That is still pretty good. We decided to go ahead and do the other projects first so that it cures well before the next coat goes on, and also in case we do something to it in all of the construction. Today, Mike is working on the wooden vanity. We bought a kit from Rustoleum
If you have ever wondered what is in the kit, here it is. Mike thinks we could have gotten away cheaper by buying the products separately since we won't be using the glaze. |
After the first application of base coat. |
Mike attaches some moulding to the cabinet. |
I spray painted the drawer pulls brushed nickle. |
It is starting to look like Quilter's White. |
New cabinet doors! |
Another shot....much better than before! |
These are some feet we are going to add to the front of the vanity to make it look more like a piece of furniture. |
I had to go back to Lowes for some moulding, so I decided to get some paint samples. I chose three....
From right to left... Churchill Hotel Wheat, Homestead Resort Parlor Sage, and Faint Maple. |
Keep in mind that we have a lot of brown and beige going on so far in the bathroom. Which do you like better?
#1. Churchill Hotel Wheat
With my shower curtain... I have light sage green and beige towels. |
In a better light with tile, flooring and quilter's white moulding. |
#2 Homestead Resort Parlor Sage
With my shower curtain.... |
This is the truest representation of the color. My flash was doing a number on it. |
#3 Faint Maple
This is the truest representation of the color. |
So, Mike has a favorite. I have two favorites...could go either way. I will reveal what we choose a little later, but I am curious.... Which do you think is best?
