Are you one of "Those" Christians?

Are you one of those Christians who thinks it doesn't matter if you go to church or not, because no one notices that you there?  Let me tell you that I notice.   After pouring our hearts into getting ready for the week...and trying to make an impact for Jesus, even though we are about discipleship and not "numbers", it is encouraging when the people who are a part of our group continue to be faithful, and it is discouraging when those people choose to stay home.   We miss you!  Even your warm body in a pew can be an encouragement. Also...if you are there, you are in a prime space for hearing from God.   We say that we
believe that God knows everything, He has a purpose and a plan for our lives, but if we aren't in the Word ourselves, and are not listening to the people who have been called to preach, how will we ever know what His will and purpose is?

Are you one of those Christians who goes from church to church looking to have your needs met, and leaving when you don't find the church that has what you need?   Have you considered that you have a gift that needs to be exercised?  Have you considered that the church needs you?   It is impossible to have great music, great children's programs, great community and fellowship, when everyone is in the "take" mode, and not in the "serve" mode.   Help make your church one that meets needs.  Let it start with you using your gift for the church body. (1 Corinthians 12)  You may find that when you get your focus off of meeting your own needs and onto helping others, that you feel more satisfied anyway.  (Acts 20:35)

Are you one of those Christians who is looking for the perfect church?   It doesn't exist here on this earth. One day we will be made perfect and enjoy perfect fellowship in His Kingdom.  But for now, we muddle through...a bunch of sinners, saved by grace, being discipled and made perfect through the Holy Spirit working through us, and by the things that God allows into our lives to form and shape us into His image.  It is a process so don't be surprised by the imperfectness of the people who make up the Church.  An old pastor told my husband when he was in seminary "people are rascals, and ministry is messy."  And yet...this imperfect Church is God's instrument of revelation to people in this present age.

"Ultimately, the church should be regarded as important to Christians because of its importance to Christ. Christ founded the church (Matthew 16:18), purchased it with His blood (Acts 20:28), and intimately identifies Himself with it (Acts 9:4). The church is the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:23; 4:12; 5:23-32; Colossians 1:18, 24; 3:15; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27), the dwelling place of His Spirit (Romans 8:9, 11, 16; 1 Corinthians 3:16-17; 6:11, 15-17; Ephesians 2:18, 22; 4:4), and the chief instrument for glorifying God in
the world. Finally, the church is God's instrument for bringing both the Gospel to the nations and a great host of redeemed humanity to Himself (Revelation 5:9)"
                                           - "Glorifying God-By Being a Biblically Sound Church by Mark Dever."

Are you one of those Christians who is frustrated by the lack of spiritual growth in your life?   Are you feeling no assurance in your salvation experience?   1 John 2: 3 says that "we know that we have come to know Him if we keep His commands."  James challenges us to be "doers of the Word" not only "hearers."  He says "Whoever looks into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it, will be blessed in all he does."  Jesus says that if we want to be first (or great as the song says) must be last, and the servant of all. (Mark 9:35)  He modeled that principal for us when he washed the disciples feet, and when he humbled himself even to death on the cross. (Philippians 2)

Are you one of those Christians who is looking for a place to love and grow in Christ, have great fellowship with other believers, love and serve His people, and give Him the Glory that is His due and make His name great in our lives and in our community?   I have been praying for like-hearted people to join us at Eastview Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, KY. to do just that!  You can find out more about us on our website
Eastview Baptist Church.

If you are in our area, I invite you to check us out.  See if you have something that we need :).  If you are not in our area, find a church and get involved.  Do your part and use your gift (if you are a Christian you have one I promise 1 Peter 4:10) to build up the Church.

If you are not a Christian, and you want to be introduced to Him, I would love to talk to you about
Him and what He has done in my life and what He wants to do in yours because He loves you so much!
