Kitchen Renovation: Before Pictures

Well...I got bored today, and started looking for a project.   I don't have any money built up in the renovation account, but I am so tired of my kitchen cabinets looking so bad!   I decided to go ahead and do the renovation in stages....and first thing to attack is painting the cabinets.

Here are a couple of inspiration pictures:

I love navy blue cabinets!

Eventually, I am going to get Mike to make me some
wooden counter tops.   This might not happen right
away.
When we bought the house the kitchen looked like this:

Kitchen of Previous Owners
The very first thing we did was replace the old chipped sink with a granite sink, replaced the disposal, and installed the microwave over the stove. Mike also took the dated wall paper down and painted.   Since then we have also replaced the flooring (thank goodness!)   I also spray painted the gold knobs and gold light fixture oil rubbed bronze to be a little more current.   One day I want to get new cabinets, but until we can afford it, paint it is!

Here is my kitchen before I started today.

From a distance it doesn't look too bad :).

You can see the wear and tear on the cabinets here.

I do love my granite sink.

The white laminate counter tops are not my favorite because they
show every spill.

This project will be a little different, because I am doing the painting instead of Mike.   I have built my confidence up a little bit with the furniture, and decided to give it a shot.   The equity in our house might just go down.... Stay tuned for updates on the new project!

  1. I like the 2nd look. The primitive. Inspire me so I might consider something. Till I can do a total redo.
