Come October!
Bring the security of a hay-filled barn,
A warming fire and goal made real.
Crown the end of a summer's work
With needs well met and hopes fulfilled
To carry us through a hard winter.

Today I am celebrating my Mama. She and I spent the morning together at my house where we talked about everything under the sun and sang together. She is 76 years old and one of a kind! I took this picture of her a few months back, and I think it shows her personality perfectly :). She is sitting in that chair like a teenager and she can work circles around me. Since I was a little girl my world has revolved around her. If she is in the room you are drawn to her. She is music. She is color. She is chaos. She is creative. She is comfort. She is stability. My Mother has a memory like and elephant and has detailed stories to tell about anyone she has ever met in her life....and she probably has a picture or two to go with it, if she can find it. She will give you anything you need, but she can't stand to let anything go because she can find a use for it. She enjoys her life and her treasures more than anyone I have ever known. Her vocabulary is unique to the Stockdale clan, and it is funny to see than even after thirty years of being married to me, my husband will still look at me sometimes for a translation. It is a mix of old military terms, foreign terms that she has picked up from friends, old country sayings, and just funny things that only our family "gets" that have become a part of our lingo. She loves you by giving....a new shirt, a pack of gum, socks, a cake or a pie or homemade bread. It is rare that I ever see her or Daddy that she doesn't have me or my kids a little sack of treats. She is death for a diet :). There will never ever be anyone like her, although my Christy bears a striking resemblance sometimes! I love my beautiful Mama.
"Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also and he praises her:" Proverbs 31:28
We love her too! Your mom is special.
